The BEST feeling...

As an avid field target shooter there are many things that get my heart racing:

• The "plink" when you knock down a target
• A friend having an exceptional day
• Getting high score for a match
• Winning a major event like Pyramyd Air
• Beating one, or both, of the Himes brothers
• and the list goes on

When you give back to the sport you love and become a match director there are then other things that get your heart racing, but in a totally different way:

• Getting a new match venue going
• Having a match without any cold lines
• Putting on a large match, like Crosman, that everyone seemed to just love
• and the list goes on

However, I recently discovered that the best feeling so far is finding out that a shooter has gotten the "Field Target Bug" from because of your match. Knowing that a course you set up and they shot is causing them to now look forward to the next field target match, to go out and practice, to look anxiously outside each day wondering if they'll get a chance to shoot tonight, or constantly checking the status of UPS or FEDEX to see if their new field target paraphernalia has arrived at home.
Knowing that someone has fallen off the deep end would normally be a cause for concern, however for field target shooters it's just an indicator that we have finally "hooked 'em" and they are now part of the group.
